How the calculator works
The range calculator uses physics-based formulas to simulate your Egret e-scooter’s energy consumption. It takes into account rolling resistance, aerodynamic drag, gradients, energy used when setting off, as well as the effects of temperature and battery condition. Simply enter your model, weight, preferred speed and a few environmental factors to receive an estimated range in kilometres.
You can also choose from predefined route types – urban, country roads, woodland or alpine – which automatically adjust all the relevant parameters. Alternatively, adjust each factor individually to create the most accurate possible representation of your everyday journey.
Complex conditions made simple
In real-world use, dozens of variables affect your range – from wind direction and humidity to the road surface. To keep the calculator intuitive, we have distilled this complexity into a small number of easy-to-understand options. Each factor is presented in three or four levels covering a broad spectrum of real-world conditions.
Season & temperature
Cold weather noticeably reduces the available battery capacity – by up to 35% in winter at temperatures below 0°C.
Headwind
Even a light headwind significantly increases aerodynamic drag. The three levels cover typical everyday conditions.
Gradients
Hills and climbs require additional energy. The levels range from flat terrain to challenging mountain routes.
Stop-start traffic
Frequent braking and setting off in urban traffic increases energy consumption. Fewer stops mean greater range.
