Old app version (1.3.3) in the Google Playstore:

The older version of our Egret app, which is available in the Google Playstore, uses a classic login procedure with a password. When you use the app for the first time, you assign a password that you can use to log in in future. If you forget your password, there is an easy way to reset it and assign a new password. This system is uncomplicated and allows you to access the app quickly.

New app version (2.0.0) in the Appstore:

The newer version of our Egret app, which is available in the Appstore, uses a single sign-on (SSO) procedure to log in. You verify yourself using a token that is sent to you by email. This token is valid for one year, so you do not have to log in again within this period. This registration process offers increased security and allows you to view your shop orders, provided you use the same email address that you used when purchasing on Egret - e-mobility at the highest level. Upcoming update for Android customers:

An update for the Android version of our Egret app will be available shortly. With this update, Android users will also be switched to the simplified and secure single sign-on procedure. As a result, all Egret app users will benefit from the improved security and increased convenience offered by the SSO procedure.

The SSO process is particularly practical, as it not only increases security, but also improves convenience for users. The annual verification saves you from having to regularly enter login details and you still have access to your orders and account information at all times.

Our e-scooters can be connected to the Egret app via Bluetooth. The app guides you through the paring process in detail. Once your e-scooter is connected to the app, it will automatically connect to your smartphone when you switch it on.

The My Egret app is specially designed for use on smartphones and is available to download from the relevant app stores. Our app is compatible with devices running at least Android version 7 or iOS 14.5. If you are unsure which operating system version your smartphone is using, you can easily find this information in the ‘Settings’ menu of your device.

Please note that the My Egret app was developed exclusively for smartphones; optimised use on tablets is not currently planned. We recommend using the app on a supported smartphone for the best user experience.

Android 7

Android 7 was released in August 2016. Typically, Android devices receive software updates for about 2 to 3 years after their release. Therefore, it is likely that devices released before 2014 cannot be officially updated to Android 7.

Android examples that may not be updatable:

  • Samsung Galaxy S5 or older models
  • HTC One (M8) or older models
  • Xiaomi models

iOS 14.5

iOS 14.5 was released in April 2021. Compared to many Android manufacturers, Apple offers longer software support for its devices. Typically, iPhones can be updated for about 5 years after their release.

iOS examples that may not be updatable:

According to this, models that predate the iPhone 6s cannot be updated to iOS 14.5. This applies to the iPhone 6 and older models.

Troubleshooting

If the activation button is not displayed in the app and you are stuck in the activation process, this could be due to the font size of your smartphone. If you are short-sighted, it can be helpful to increase the font size on your device. Unfortunately, this may mean that certain buttons are not displayed correctly. Try reducing the font size in your smartphone settings to make the button visible.

If your Egret e-scooter does not connect to our app, please try the following steps:

  1. Check permissions: Please make sure that you have given the app permission for system access to the BLE interface. If this has not been done during the pairing process, close the app completely and start the process from the beginning.
  2. Multiple e-scooters in the settings: Please remove all saved e-scooters in the BLE settings and restart the Egret app.
  3. Activate Bluetooth: Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone and the e-scooter is switched on. Switching Bluetooth on and off can help to reset existing connections.
  4. Set e-scooter to pairing mode: Manually set your e-scooter to pairing mode again. The Egret app will guide you step by step.
  5. Proximity to the e-scooter: Hold your smartphone as close as possible to the e-scooter display and avoid sources of interference in the vicinity.
  6. Restart devices: Sometimes a simple restart of your smartphone or e-scooter can solve the problem.
  7. Switch off other devices: Make sure there are no other devices nearby that are trying to connect to the e-scooter at the same time.

This usually makes it possible to connect your Egret to the app.

If you are using the latest version of the app (version 2.0.0 or newer): In the latest version of our app, which is available in the Apple App Store, you no longer need a conventional password. Instead, we work with a verification token that is sent by email. This token is valid for one year, during which time you will automatically remain logged in to the app. This simplifies the login process and increases security.

If you are using an older version of the app: In older versions of the app, you can reset the password using the ‘Forgot password’ function. You will find the link for this directly on the login screen. After resetting, we recommend that you update the app to switch to the more secure and convenient verification system of the newer version.

General note: If you are still using the old version of the app, you can update it at any time. After the update, simply log in with the same email address to access the improved security features of the latest version.

The remaining range on the display is calculated based on the last 5 km that you have travelled with your Egret e-scooter.

If you have had a lot of uphill sections or braking followed by acceleration, the range may decrease. The range is also influenced by the correct tyre pressure (we recommend 2.5 bar) or by the weather.

Please note that the range always depends on a variety of factors, including e.g. load, riding style, surface conditions, tyre pressure (we recommend 2.5 bar) and temperature. In addition, a new battery requires around 3-5 charging cycles to reach its full capacity.

Further questions

Yes, there will be regular app updates. Depending on your smartphone settings, these will be installed automatically or you can initiate them manually. The app updates usually contain improvements to the user experience and the functionality of the e-scooter and app.

  1. Security reasons: The Google Play Store offers the safest way to download and install our app due to its strict security requirements and regular checks. This ensures that no malicious changes can be made to the app that could jeopardise your security.
  2. Automatic updates and support: By installing via the Google Play Store, you will receive automatic updates so that you are always using the latest and most secure version of our app. These updates not only include new features, but also important security and compatibility improvements that may not be available with a manually installed APK.
  3. Compatibility and user experience: Our app is designed to work optimally on a wide range of devices that use the Google Play Store. If you install the APK manually, you may experience unexpected issues or incompatibilities that we unfortunately cannot fully support. To offer you the best possible user experience, we therefore recommend the official download via the Google Play Store.

Our e-scooters can be updated OTA (over the air). If an update is required, it is installed via our Egret app and can be installed on the e-scooter. However, as we always check our e-scooters thoroughly before delivery, updates are very, very rare. So don't be surprised if you don't need to update your e-scooter.
